During milk cooling, heat is extracted from the milk and typically released into the environment. A much better solution is to put this heat to good use. With Risto heat recovery, you can utilize the extracted heat to heat water to 50°C – 60°C using an external plate heat exchanger.

The heat water storage tanks in this system are space-saving and upright-standing, with capacities ranging from 150 to 1,000 liters. Thanks to the layering principle, warm water is immediately available shortly after the milk cooling process begins.

The complete package of the new Risto heat recovery system includes a hot water storage tank, plate heat exchanger, circulation pump, thermostat, and pressure switch.

The Mueller Fre-Heater is versatile and can be used wherever cooling takes place. It can be installed both in new and existing cooling systems. The Fre-Heater provides tens of thousands of liters of almost free warm water, which can then be heated to the required temperature in your boiler.

For every liter of milk cooled by 30°C, you can warm one liter of water by 10°C. The temperature achieved depends on the size of the cooling system (its capacity) and the cooling duration. With the Fre-Heater, it is possible to recover up to 70% of the required electrical energy for the cooling unit.

When cooling milk, a significant amount of heat is generated. In most cases, this heat is simply released into the environment—what a waste! Increase your farm’s profitability by recovering this energy instead. Rather than dissipating the heat into the air, use it to warm water efficiently.

The Fre-Heater® Heat recovery by Müller is available in various sizes and consists of an inner tank surrounded by a heat exchanger. The Fre-Heater® is enclosed in a stainless steel casing, ensuring durability and efficiency. Unlike other systems, it requires neither a circulation pump nor a plate heat exchanger, making it low-maintenance and highly reliable.

The water temperature achieved depends on the cooling system size and cooling duration. Typically, you can expect the water to reach between 50°C and 60°C. By saving energy on water heating, you can recover up to 70% of the energy used for cooling—an efficient and cost-effective solution for dairy farms!
